Allergies can greatly reduce the overall quality of life for you and your furkid. While a number of factors plays a part, what they eat is probably the biggest contributor. An unhealthy diet rich in fat or sugars, can also be part of the reasons.
You may need to pay attention to your furkid's diet if you spot red and itchy skin, hives, bloatedness, itchy paws and/or oily skin. Some of our most common foods are also responsible for these symptoms too. Switching to a novel protein can often help. These include kangaroos, rabbits and most white fish.
Kangaroo is the leanest red meat, with only 2% fat, while rabbit is rich in vitamin B12 (almost 3 times more than beef). White fishes are high in omega 3, low in fat. These options are great for furkids with sensitive tummies, special dietary needs, matured pupper or if they need to lose a pound or two.
